I personally I think it is really sick how much enjoyment we get out of watching other people suffer. We watch things like Saw, Hostel and love them. Some of the way they torture people in movies like this really makes me think where is our society going. Why is it ok for us to watch and why do we enjoy it. Maybe because we know the images are not real but regardless if you think about it its just sick.
I found this video online apparently at a theme park in the UK they created a saw ride. Sick and twisted now we wanna be apart of the thrill. Maybe its that the thought of death gives us this certain thrill. But why? Is it like the rush you get when your on a roller coaster why do we enjoy this so much?

I admit that I enjoy movies like that, except for Hostel because they go a little too far and there is absolutely no story line. And to to be frank it is because I know that stuff isn't real. Like I said in class,I made the mistake of looking up a video one of my friends mentioned that had an actual killing and I was disgusted. I think that people don't realize that when it is real it is way more scary than what you see in the movies. Our world is slowly getting to become this sick and twisted world, mainly on the internet for now because it is technically illegal. For example, there are these videos that I heard someone argue against in one of my classes called Torture Porn. It's beyond sick and sadly some of it is based on actual rapes. There's some scary things out there in the world, like murder, rape, etc. that we detest but we are slowly bringing them to our televisions.
ReplyDeleteHonestly its hard to think about all of the sick things that are out their on the internet, t.v., and so on. Just watching that clip made me feel uneasy, and yet people absolutely love it. Every single day entertainers and producers push their limits to make the most money, and to get the most excitment out of their viewers. Again, our world is sick and twisted and every day it gets worse. The hunger games really don't seem too bad once I think of the things our society watches today. What will this world come too? I most certainly hope the hunger games won't ever exist in our lifetimes, but something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath.
ReplyDeleteI watched that video you posted and I would never be able to ride something like that. I can not even watch those movies because it make me sick. And I find it replusive that people need more and more violence to be entertained. It just makes me wonder what type of people are living in this world who enjoy sick and twisted movies like Saw.
